2nd Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Forum Addresses Challenges

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has participated in the 2nd Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Forum held on Tuesday and Wednesday under the theme "Working Together to Address Challenges and Promote Common Development". The virtual forum was chaired by the Minister of Water Resource of the People's Republic of China Li Guoying.

Cambodia’s Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology Lim Kean Hor has emphasized the significance of Lancang-Mekong River in supplying water and other resources to boost socio-economic development of countries along the river. He says Challenges such as population growth, increasing demands for food, water security and energy, and climate change are pressuring the resources and the sustainability of the river.

The Minister has added that shared responsibility from all Mekong-Lancang regional member countries is needed to address the issues and foster a cooperation toward sustainable water security and development in the region. Cambodia has been committed to continue a close cooperation and shared responsibility with all the member countries to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable future.
